mate spawn & die

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Lard “Mate spawn & die”
from The Last Temptation Of Reid LP, Alternative Tentacles Records (1990)

Lyrics:

Hair by mail
Tit jobs for teens
Go broke appearing rich
Searching for Rosebud in the fire

Pop stars fingers in the fans
The therapist you wish you had
Crucifix or lubricant
Government by fad!

Mate! Spawn! & Die!
Mate! Spawn! & Die!
My my my my…

Are those salmon upstream turning red
From shear embarassment
Came all this way up all them ladders
Without checking a map

May the farce be with you

In one corner of the ring
That cherished myth
Falling in love magically solves
Every problem you’ve ever had

In the other corner
Spoon size shredded dreams
The Gods must be lazy
The movie goers must be crazy

Mate! Spawn! & Die!
Mate! Spawn! & Die!

My my my my…

Wrong worm, hooked again
Mounted on the wall in my own den
I’ll talk alone to a firefly
Dial 1-900-Suk-Me-Dry

You can’t throw me to the lions
I’m Charlton Heston!
You can’t throw me to the lions
I’m Charlton Heston!

Mate! Spawn! & Die!
Mate! Spawn! & Die!
Yippe Ti-Yi-Yi-Yo
Ho-Ho-Ho-Ho
What do you really want for Christmas, children?

“…Mmmmm…
Nice place ya got here, darlin’
Sure wish the hot water worked
Gotta rinse my jizz off before mornin’
Or I’ll itch for a week – ”

Rarp!
Damn! that water’s cold
Agh!
Eeee!

Steven Tyler
Of all people once said
“If men bled
Would tampons be free?”

Omi’god, I gotta get goin’
“Now?”
I forgot to feed the cat

Black Sabbath riot Milwaukee 1980

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Milwaukee, WI 10/9/1980 – One of the greatest audio testaments to a concert riot that exists. Just the third song into the show (Sabbath had already played War Pigs and Neon Knights), Dio gives the nod to Geezer to start N.I.B. All that happens is a thud… which is presumably Geezer hitting the floor after some jackass threw a bottle and hit him in the head. Dio turns on the lights and lectures the crowd a bit. Then the road manager and tour promoter come out and give a brief statement. Sabbath does not come back though, and the crowd gets pissed. Supposedly dozens were arrested and there was $10,000 damage to the arena. Funny thing was that the Milwaukee Bucks had a game the following night. Wonder how that worked out?

Space Age Pop # 2

Bob and Ray Throw a Stereo Spectacular (ristampa tedesca in vinile) – serie Living Stereo, etichetta RCA Victor, numero di catalogo LSP-1773; anno 1958.

Buon ascolto

BOB AND RAY THROW A STEREO SPECTACULAR

This is the wonderfull stereo demonstration disc that “Sounds in space”, recorded in 1958 and now available on CD. All tracks except Julie Andrews – are wonderful examples of the extremely varied nature of Space Age pop. The five “Narrations with sound effects” by Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding are wild & wacky stereo experiments, performed by the mad Doctor Ahkbar. They include stereophonic bagpipes, a jet plane, creaking doors, cats, even a human clock swinging in three dimensions. Very very LIVING stereo indeed!
