The Misfits^[10] (lett. disadattati) sono un gruppo musicale punk rock costituitosi nel 1977 nella città di Lodi, New Jersey e guidato inizialmente dal cantante Glenn Danzig e successivamente dal bassista Jerry Only. I Misfits sono stati estremamente influenzati da generi come l’heavy metal,^[5] il punk rock^[5] ed il rock^[5]
in generale. Il gruppo infatti ha sempre dimostrato affinità con il
pubblico heavy metal, per via dei testi e dell’attitudine spesso
comuni, che altri gruppi punk non presentavano in origine. Ad esempio
gruppi come Metallica,
contribuirono ad unire il pubblico dei due generi suonando più volte
diverse cover dei Misfits, come di altre punk band. Nonostante abbiano
cessato di registrare e suonare nel 1983, una nuova versione del gruppo è attiva dal 1995, sotto la guida di Jerry Only e priva di Danzig, fondatore e precedente frontman della band.
